Which one
Many immigrant stories begin with someone coming to the United States in search of a “better life.” This piece deals with both sides of searching for a “better life”: the before and after. My mother has lived in this country for over 20 years, so I discuss with her the idea of this elusive better life she came in search of. This piece leans on a passage of the short story “Which one?” by Evelyne Trouillot to provide the before portion of an immigration story.
